I recently created a homepage for guide documentation for my own library, and I attached Microsoft Clarity to that homepage. And after a few days, I went back to Clarity and saw the log as a video of user actions, and I was very impressed by the quality.
Previously, when I developed an open source library and created a guide document, I depended on people around me for feedback. Listening to the abstract opinions of the people around me, I had to decide which content people focused more on and where I should write in more detail and emphasize. Sometimes I looked at visitor statistics through Google Analytics, but there were many aspects that were difficult to understand with simple numbers and graphs.
However, after watching a few action log videos of users visiting my homepage, I no longer need to ask people around me for feedback. This is because I can see with my own eyes which content users pay more attention to and where they stay longer.
Also, like the video above, I found out that there are people who read my manual in detail for a long time. Therefore, in writing guide documents, more carefully and more effort than before.
I am not aware that there are similar services to MS Clarity. But for people like myself who create open source libraries in their spare time, such free service is more appealing.
